Three tiers - Report Viewers, Medium Users and Pro Users - each building on the previous one.
Business value
More self-sufficient report users and less dependency on centralized IT.
A leading FMCG company wanted to enhance data literacy across its customer teams. Different teams had different starting points - some users only needed to read pre-built reports, others wanted to build their own, and a few were ready to go deeper into the warehouse architecture. A one-size training would miss most of them. The company needed a tiered program that meets each user level where they are, raising the floor without overwhelming anyone.
We designed a structured training program with three distinct levels, each tailored to a different user skill level:
Each tier built on the previous one, so users could progress as their needs grew. Materials were tailored to the company's actual data estate - naming conventions, domain structure, and reporting patterns - so training translated directly into day-to-day work.
Tier 01
Report Viewers - empowered users to run pre-built reports and apply filters through both native report interfaces and Power BI. Practical, hands-on, focused on confidence with the existing reporting estate.
Tier 02
Medium Users - enabled participants to create custom reports using existing datasets, blending in their own data to drive deeper insights. Mix of dataset literacy and Power BI authoring techniques.
Tier 03
Pro Users - delivered in-depth training on warehouse architecture, naming conventions, data domains, and SQL best practices, fostering self-sufficiency and advanced report development.
Qualitative programme outcomes; no measured figures are claimed.
Enhanced data interpretation: participants now translate raw numbers into actionable insights
Increased self-sufficiency: customer teams build and modify their own reports, reducing dependency on centralized IT
Operational efficiency: streamlined reporting process across all user levels
Quicker decision-making thanks to reduced data-request lead times
Cornerstone of the company's broader digital transformation - culture of data-driven decision-making
